Conducting defensible compensation and pay equity analyses
This day and a half seminar focuses on the current state of pay equity, with particular emphasis on how to conduct legally defensible analyses of your pay and other compensation systems. This hands-on, interactive, seminar is catered to federal contractors who are required to comply with executive order 11246, lawyers who advise on compensation matters, and those concerned about Title VII compliance related to compensation. The seminar begins with a detailed review of the legal context, focusing on Title VII and EO 11246 Principles, the controversy surrounding the gender wage gap, and enforcement history. A review of the OFCCP’s systemic compensation standards and guidelines is included, as well as a consideration of their potential rescission and potential implications. The reminder of the seminar focuses on how to conduct defensible analyses using Fisher’s exact tests and multiple regression analyses. Particular emphasis is given to the compensation outcomes that could be analyses as part of a pay equity study, legitimate factors related to compensation that may explain existing disparities, unit of analysis issues, constructing similarly situated employee groupings, and issues related to which protected groups should be compared in an analysis.
